Lisa “Malkie” Vider is a healthcare administrator, business leader, and community advocate with more than 25 years of real-world management experience.
Born and raised in the Borough Park and Flatbush sections of Brooklyn, Lisa is the daughter of a New York City public school special education teacher and a healthcare professional. She attended Shulamith High School and later Brooklyn College, beginning her career as a teenager working in her family’s assisted living facility.
What started as a part-time job became a lifelong calling. After her father’s passing, Lisa continued his legacy — expanding her healthcare credentials, deepening her operational expertise, and ultimately serving as administrator of the same facility. In that role, she manages complex regulatory requirements, oversees staff and budgets, and ensures high-quality care for seniors and families.
Lisa understands how government decisions impact real people because she navigates those policies every day.
After marrying her husband Avner in 2013, Lisa chose Long Island to raise their family. They reside in Hewlett Bay Park with their three children, Tamar, Dvir, and Adir.
Lisa is deeply involved in her community. She serves on the Board of the Brandeis School, supports Teach NYS in advocating for fair education funding, and volunteers with NYSHFA/NYSCAL, the leading voice for New York’s skilled nursing and assisted living providers. She and her family are active members of their local synagogue and community institutions.
Lisa’s leadership is rooted in service, accountability, and results — values she brings to everything she does.
District 9 deserves a State Senator who can actually get things done in Albany. With Democrats in control of the State Senate, we need a representative who can work with the majority to bring funding, pass legislation, and deliver real results for our community.

As a hardworking mother of three school-age children whose own mother lived in her home during her final years, Lisa understands firsthand the difficulties we all face in providing our families what they need. From ensuring quality schools, playgrounds, to supporting the basic infrastructure in end of life care in our local hospitals and social services, Lisa knows that our community deserves a lot more from Albany.
Lisa understands that we need practical solutions for our families, and a senator who will not only fight for us, but one who can deliver for us.
From years of petitioning Albany as a member of a school board and as a business owner in a state-regulated industry, Lisa, like the rest of us, is frustrated when seeing neighboring districts get their fair share, funded by our tax dollars.
Practically speaking, the Albany legislature is controlled by a supermajority in the Democratic party, and we need to have a senator from that party to have a seat at the table. We know from the past the benefits of having a senator represent us from the majority party, and we need that power back to realistically realize the aspirations of our community. From her decades of experience, Lisa knows how Albany works, and she will make it finally work for us.
Our district’s families need someone who delivers, not empty feelgood speeches.
Few people in Albany understand our state’s health care crisis like Lisa Vider.
Our state currently spends over 44% of its annual budget on health care, which unnecessarily drives up our taxes.
As a leading New York state health care professional for over twenty-five years, Lisa knows better than anyone that we can provide our families with better care and accessibility without raising taxes, if we understand how the system works.
Assisted Living Facilities, such as the one Lisa proudly operates is a perfect example. Such facilities were created by Albany years ago to provide a necessary level of care to those who needed our compassionate help, but did not require a higher level of more expensive care. Lisa found ways to ensure that New Yorkers received the care that they deserved, at a level that they needed, at a major cost savings to the state budget.
Lisa knows that not every problem is solved by throwing our hard-earned tax dollars at it in wasteful ways. Some problems, like our health care affordability and access, simply need an advocate inside the government, inside the rooms where key decisions are made, that has the depth of proven experience to limit the bureaucracy and concentrate on bettering our quality of life while maintaining the services we need for our families.
We all recognize that the challenges of hate and intolerance have exploded both around the country, throughout our great state, and in our local Long Island communities. From attacks on our houses of worship, to our children being bullied from middle school to their college campuses, the level of intolerance has taken us to a breaking point.
We need to do more!
Senate district #9 is as diverse a district as they come. Currently, our varying neighborhoods and people are set up by leadership to compete over declining resources, to battle for needed attention, and to feel alone and unsafe in an unnecessarily created competitive environment.
This has to stop!
Lisa Vider and her family have seen these issues in our district firsthand, and know that the only way to combat hate is by building bridges, developing real relationships, and bringing our communities together in a meaningful way.
As senator, Lisa won’t just talk about fighting hate. She will bring our communities together in a substantive and meaningful way. Lisa will immediately develop both community forums and roundtable meetings on intercommunal collaboration, ensuring that we better understand each other’s community priorities, and can develop a unified voice in advocating for our district needs.
With Lisa as our Senator, hate will no longer have a place in our Senate District!
